One was a simple timber beam bridge, while the other was a 90’ Bennett truss bridge – the current bridge was constructed on a new alignment just to the west of the earlier bridges

This is the earliest remaining Dare truss still in operation

The cast iron shoes in the very early Dare trusses were different to the later ones, and Cooreei is the only bridge still in operation that includes this very early cast iron shoe design
